Welcome
It is our pleasure to announce the 1st workshop on Computer Assisted Soft Tissue and Liver Surgery under the direction of the Department of Visceral Medicine and Surgery together with the ARTORG Center for Computer-Aided Surgery, University of Bern.Computer assisted and image guided soft-tissue surgery is a relatively young topic and its implications for modern surgery slowly become visible. The technology holds great potential and first clinical results, especially in liver surgery, are promising enough and allow continuing with basic research both on a clinical and technological level. To further stimulate such research it is intended to bring together interested clinicians and researchers and the industry during a two-day event in February 2012.
The goal of the workshop shall be the scientific and clinical advancement of Computer Assisted Soft Tissue and Liver Surgery through: promotion of basic technological and clinical research, enabling of effective translational research, fostering communication and collaboration among early scientific adopters, initiation of research projects on national and EU levels, coordination of ongoing and future clinical trials and education of clinicians, scientists, and engineers.
